The Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi, unveiled transformative initiatives — the ₹1 lakh crore RDI Fund and the launch of ANRF — aimed at revolutionizing India’s research, innovation, and technological ecosystem for Vision 2047.

The Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, represents a landmark initiative in India’s scientific and technological advancement. This conclave serves as a platform connecting researchers, innovators, policymakers, and industry leaders to foster collaboration and accelerate research outcomes.
A centerpiece of the event was the launch of a ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund. This fund is designed to encourage and financially back private sector involvement in research and innovation, marking a significant shift towards promoting more inclusive and robust scientific development beyond traditional government institutions. The fund aims to stimulate breakthrough innovations by providing grants and support to startups and established firms working on cutting-edge technologies with potential societal impact.

Also operationalised during the conclave is the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), conceived as a central agency to streamline and strengthen research funding and governance in India. ANRF will coordinate various research programs across disciplines, eliminate duplications, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. It is expected to serve as a backbone for implementing India’s ambitious vision to become a global research hub by 2047.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted how these measures align with India’s broader goal of sustainable development through scientific and technological excellence.
The initiative complements other national missions in sectors such as energy, health, space, and digital technology, showcasing India’s proactive approach to shape a knowledge-driven economy with global leadership in innovation.

In summary, ESTIC 2025 sets a new course for India’s R&D ecosystem by mobilizing vast funding, institutional reforms, and industry partnerships to fuel technology-led progress and address critical challenges for the nation’s future growth and self-reliance in science
